Custom NDR or Not Out of Office message?

Hello experts,

We have someone who has been with our company for a long time getting ready to leave.  They want the e-mail account to be closed but want a custom message sent to anyone who sends e-mail to that address.

To my knowledge, I can't do anything if I close the e-mail account.  The second thing is, can I create a custom NDR message that just applies to that address?  If I create a out of office message, it says "out of office."

Any advice would be appreciated.  We have exchange 2007.

Thank you,

Karen

Hi, Karen.

You can create a template and a rule that responds to all messages with that template.

That is what I thought, just to confirm, account has to be open and has to be done from outlook correct?  I can't that particular rule to work through owa.

I don't use OWA very often, but if I remember correctly, then "no" you cannot create a "reply using a template" rule using it.  That would have to be done from Outlook and the resulting rule would only work if Outlook is open and running.
