Data feed from website to phone app

I'm creating a phone app that needs to call data (calendar information, etc.) from a constantly changing website.  I have control of the website, so generating a datafile on the website to feed to the phone is not a problem.

What I'm really looking for is something that works kind of like RSS, but where I can add more fields.  Using the calendar example, I would need "date", "location", "time", etc.  Does this exist?  Or would I be better off just using a plain old CSV file?

Your best bet is to create a data stream via serverside in xml or json.  Then use javascript or jquery to parse.

Assume anything you do will be attempted to be decompiled.  Leave off any pass codes you wouldn't want somebody else to know.

This is a good read http://speckyboy.com/2013/02/06/using-wordpress-as-an-rest-api-for-a-mobile-app/
