How to downgrade Samsung Series 3 notebook BIOS

Hi fellow experts,

I have a brand new Samsung Series 3 notebook (NP350E7C), on which I installed Windows 7. Yesterday the Samsung software update tool recommended a BIOS update which I installed. The system is now running P08ABE BIOS - and won't start Windows 7 anymore. I have turned off secure boot again and switched back to CSM OS - no change. When I press F10 during the system's startup and select the harddisk from the boot menu, everything is fine, Windows 7 starts as usual. But when I just let the system start without user intervention, I just get a blank black screen, no cursor, nothing. (And, yes, the harddisk is, of course, top in the boot priority list.)

Samsung now wants me to send in the notebook for a BIOS downgrade, but I'd like to save the hazzle and time for this. I just need to locate the right BIOS file and then install it, as described here, but I can't find the BIOS for my system.

Can anyone a) tell me how to get Windows 7 to start using the current (new) BIOS or b) how to find the right BIOS ROM file for my notebook?

Thanks a lot!

Hi

From what i understand you could download downgrades. Recplace the xxxx with your partnumber and give it a try. (platform you are looking for is ABE(extension from your BIOS)

Thanks you, but the problem is, that http://sbuservice.samsungmobile.com/BUWebServiceProc.asmx/GetContents?platformID=ABE&PartNumber=aaaa only leads me to the current version of the BIOS - that one I already have. I need to get to the previous version, and I don't know what that was called...
Hi,

I found it is called P07ABE but where to download it, i did not easely find. Will look for it when i have a little more time to spare. (wouldnt Samsung just mail it to you?)

No Samsung is stupid. They could/wouldn't even tell me the version number... Thanks for that, with this info I should be able to find it. I'll get back here asap...

Ok, more tricky than I thought. I'm still missing the date and another number to come down to the final path... <FilePathName>ITEM_20130313_1029_WIN_P08ABE.EXE</FilePathName> Why does Samsung make this so complicated???

Hey Patrick,

thanks a lot for your help here! However, I won't go with that download... it does seem a bit too hot to handle...  :-)

Don't waste more time on this - I've more or less given up now and will send the darn thing in to get it serviced. So unless someone comes up with the ideal solution to fix this problem, I'll close this question tomorrow morning and award the full points to you.
Hi,

I understand your way of thinking, why turn it in if i can handle it myself in 3 minutes....
IMHO you are doing the best thing by have it fixed or swapped for new.

Good luck to you!

Hi. I have similar problem with my v5c-t01. It isn't so simply to downgrade bios. So if you don't want to buy new motherboard like me, be careful with that. You can try this one if you want, but i'm not sure you can do it yourself. There is a software blocking code, that prevents you to downgrade bios. When I tried to do this, I used console commands to disable this message. But I couldn't. And also I couldn't to dump my previous version. As a result, after this situation, like yours, I've got a black screen and couldn't do anything to get in bios. Now, when I've got a new motherboard, I don't want to upgrade bios before I can dump original one. If you know how to restore my mainboard or dump bios, let me know, please. Earlier I had P09aal version and now - P02abe. I also downloaded P08abe recently. Here you can get it: http://disk.tom.ru/3n3mghj.
