Vlan for guest wifi not working

Hi all, i have a vlan setup on a cisco 841 for guest wifi access and hp ProCurve 1810G for my switch and cisco AP541N for my wireless access points. I have vlan 1 setup for my main subnet which is a 10.10.2.x and my vlan 100 is 192.168.1.x for wifi. Now the wireless on my ap for vlan 1 works like it should and i can access everything. When you connect to an ssid for vlan 100 you get connected to the ap but dont get an ip from the router which is configured for dhcp for the 192.168.1.x subnet. On the Hp switch i have ports 13 - 16 tagged on the vlan 100 and on vlan 1 they are untagged.  the router is on port 1 and is untagged for both vlans. Now my main issue i think is the switch as if i tag port 1 for both vlans i loose all traffic thru this switch via the router. If i tag for just vlan 100 i get traffic to pass but still no ip for connected clients on vlan 100. Any ideas on where to look next?

Your question is a little confusing so you may need to clarify a few things... Can you provide a clearer picture of your network setup? Do you only have one HP switch? Do you have a separate dhcp pool configured on the router, or have you tried using the dhcp function of the AP? Have you configured your trunk interfaces? Have you tried hard wiring into a vlan 100 tagged interface and maybe using a static address to test access?

At that location we have the router then the switch which the ap's connect to, there are other switches but they are down the line and dont have anything for vlan100 on them (the ap's and router are all in the first switch. the other switches are daisy chained and there are 6 total including the first one.) The dhcp pool for the 10.10.2.x subnet is handled by a windows server 2008 box. the dhcp pool for the wifi on vlan 100 is on the cisco router. The AP has no dhcp option available on it.

Im very new to vlans so that is where my issue lies i think. When you asked if i configured truck interfaces im unsure of what your asking. No i have not tested a physical connect to a vlan100 tagged port.
No problem. So with VLANs, you cannot tag a physical port with multiple VLANs unless it is a trunk interface, so in order to give a switch the ability to handle the traffic from multiple VLANs and send it upstream, a trunk interface is required.

Your configuration should be simple, all you would need to do (from the vlan side) is configure one port on the switch and one port on the router as trunk interfaces and then connect them.

I can help with the config, but did you mean to say that you have a Cisco 1841, not 841?
the router is a 891 sorry for the typo.

So port 1 on my switch should be a trunk port your saying and the ports where i the ap's connect can be tagged for vlan 100 then? or port1, and the ap ports are all trunked ports?
to answer your question, if port 1 of the switch connects to the router, that would be the trunk interface. The ports that the guest APs connect to would only be tagged as 100.

However

if you have an 891, you should have multiple switchports... So there may be an easier way to do this. The question is do you require any communication between your main vlan and the guest vlan on 100? I am assuming you dont, hence creating a separate vlan for guests. I then also assume that vlan 100 only needs access to the internet?
Ok gotcha.  I make port one a trunk port, but then do i tag it for both or leave it untagged.  In the web config of the switch has a option for trunks. i created a trunk and made port 1 a member only. there is an option called lacp what is that for do you know?

yes the 891 does. but the ap's also serve the 10.10.2.x subnet as the ap have multiple wvlans. no access is needed between the two subnets. yes just internet for vlan100
I went and made port 1 a member of the trunk and i lost all connection again. does the member need to be tagged as well?
Any ideas?
Sorry for the delay in responding, I have been away for the past few days.

I  only have my phone for the next few hours, but I can review your responses and offer some direction later tonight!
could you post the config of the procurve?
The procurve only has web access no cli on it so i cant really show you the config without giving you access right?
you should be able to telnet/ssh to it
nope this switch has no cli available only web access. I have the web config output that im posting here.

yea i have been reading on that too and everything says trunk the port and well hp stuff doesn't work like that! Ok any help is appreciated :)
apologies again for the delay, another extended work trip. I havent had a chance to look up the HP syntax for creating the "trunk" interfaces, but it comes down to that the HP interfaces that connects to the 891 and the two APs must be configured as said trunk interfaces. Then, you also must configure the interface on the Cisco 891 also as a trunk. I can look into the syntax for HP tomorrow if you still need a hand.

Cheers
I purchased a cisco SG200-26 swtich to see if that would fix my issue with the vlan. Im testing it now ill get back and let you know what the story is now.
