eFax Messenger 4.4 "This feature requires an eFax subscription"

I have a number of users who are using eFax 4.4, running on Win7 32bit Pro.

Quite often, when they try to send a fax, an error pops up. "Compose Fax: This feature requires an eFax subscription. Select 'OK' to validate your account or signup in 'User Settings'

They all have the proper credentials setup. Sometimes restarting the computer fixes the issue, sometimes it requires a reinstall, sometimes they have to validate over. However, I believe that this is a bandage on top of the problem, not a real fix.

How does eFax validate the first time it is launched? Does it go out and make a connection to the eFax servers? I wonder if there is a timeout happening there so the program fails.

Any pointers or solutions will be greatly appreciated.

I haven't seen this problem with my eFax (or j2/jFax) account. If no EE expert has the answer, I recommend contacting eFax support:
http://www.efax.com/help/contactSupport

I've contacted them numerous times and have been happy with their responses. Regards, Joe

Contated eFax and they provided an updated list of firewall ports to allow on our network. We added the new ports and this resolved the issue.
