activesync

I have a client using activesync on a linux server (with Zarafa exchange server) and synching a Galaxy S3 phone (Android)
The server account for this individual has 5000 contacts, >5000 calendar events, 43000 emails in the inbox etc
He has a major problem synching the phone over wireless / gps network. It does not sync contacts correctly- only syncs 3000 or so. I have set the limts on email / calendar sync to the last 3 months only
I can only think it is due to the numbers involved

Can someone PLEASE tell me if there are limits on the numbers / sizes of emails, contacts etc that active sync can handle. I cannot find this information

Are you getting sync errors?  It should send an email to you about synchronization errors also.

It depends on the server, but Exchange 2007 had a lower limit than 2010 with total number of items in a folder, and also a limit on contacts/calender items.
2010 has a 100,000 item limit in a single folder, and I believe both versions have 5000 calendar/contact items. 2003 and 200 were very low, 2000 was a per item limit of 2000, and 2003 was 5000.

This is a per folder limit, so create a new folder and drop some items into that.  Or you can clean them up.

Understood, but Active Sync is still licensed by MS.
I doubt that the limits MS have in their own version varies that much to be limitless in the Linux implementations, or the iOS version for that matter.

I'll try to dig up some limit info for you on Zarafa.

Are you using z-push or another AS port to sync?
Keep in mind the device will still be limited to the implementations of ActiveSync, as that's what it's using.

I have tried to set the device up for 5 minute sync and push - same problem

Apparently the Zarafa server / active sync just cannot handle this many contacts
