I'm going to manufacture some educational flash cards for children. They will be colorful and based on three or four standard design templates. There will be 365 cards with different data, but only 3 or 4 "looks" (depending on certain categories).

Anyway, I have all the data neatly organized in a csv file. I would like to import it to some publishing software similar to a word "mail merge". Currently, I use indesign for my other publishing projects. But I don't think indesign has the "mail merge"-type import feature that I would like. The idea here, is to set up a template or "skin" and then just "dump" all the data in, in one fell swoop... Without having to design each of the 365 cards separately.

There will be 5 fields for the data: question, answer, hint, additional reading, etc.

I have to be able to publish the final product with a professional printer. Therefore MS word is, obviously not optimal for that.

Any idea want software I should try? Is there something in the adobe line that can do this?

P. s. it has to be compatible with MAC

Indesign is the way to go especially since you have it. Look at data merge http://help.adobe.com/en_US/indesign/cs/using/WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-6c3ca.html#WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-6c30a
You can set up a master page with the style and data fields placeholder (set override data item so that each page gets its own fields) and when doing the data merge you can specify one page per record creating 365 pages if you want. (Or 4-up or however you want them printed).
If you have different "styles and templates" you can easily change all cards with the master page.
