Cannot Get Mail. Ipad and Iphone Activesync

I have a user with an iphone and ipad both with ios 6.1.3
they connect it to our exchange 2010 server.

I tested from microsoft activesync website and everything is fine

I deleted the accounts from the iphone and ipad and recreated it and still issue exists

Iphone: I can setup the account on the iphone but when i goto the inbox i get
"The connection to the server failed. It can't sync any emails at all.
I tried from wifi and 4g connection

Ipad: I can setup the account on the ipad. It syncs a few emails and then i get the "the connection to the server failed". I tried from wifi and 4g and cant send emails

On both the iphone and ipad the bottom of the screen it keeps trying to connect

anybody experience this?

Sophos Endpoint.....I was able to resolve it by nuking/wipe clean the ipad and iphone
and readd the activesync accounts.

Also tried resetting network settings and erase settings on iphone/ipad with no luck

Do you not get any errors when setting up the account?
Usually these issues are due to a typo or missing domain information, also have you checked the advanced tab for anything obvious? SSL etc.

What AV software do you have installed on your Exchange 2010 server?

found it was only way to wipe the device to fix the issue
