Customization in Notepad++

Hello,

I have been using Notepad++ for a while with the basics but I want to get the most out of it to assist my work. I have several log files from several systems and I want to set special styles, user dialogs (I am not sure what it is called) for those types of log files where Notepad++ can highlight and colorize special keywords that I define.

I thought I managed that with 'User Defined Dialog' but it does not seem to work (and make the necessary markings for the keywords I defined)

Please guide me on how to reach my goal?

Thank you in advance

I've never done that before, but it looks like this might help you:http://weblogs.asp.net/jgalloway/archive/2006/11/25/creating-a-user-defined-language-in-notepad.aspx

I'd love to hear if it works!

Thanks! On top of your guidance, I also tried the following:
- Updated the program to the latest version
- Restarted the program after I made User Definitions
