Shoretel v13.1 on VMware

Can anyone confirm if the SBE v13.1 will sit on a VM that is sharing 4x NICS on a single host?
The host also has local storage (shouldn't be an issue)..

Thanks

We've had issues with performance, and real time applications with VOIP VMs!

Data Packets missing because of the Hypervisor overhead, and hence real time voice communications breaks up and stutters!

I would suggest you test very carefully.

Was the Voip software sharing physical NICs or have dedicated physical nic allocated to the VM?
Did you have layer 2 or layer 3 switches?
What was the phone system?

Mitel & Cisco, tried physical nics and virtual nics, after many months, it was found "the hypervisor" grabbed too "much cpu time" for real time processing and applications, it was moved to a physical computer.

What kind of infrastructure was in place?
Was it the voice solution causing this or other VMs/Apps?

That's why we stated, Test, Test, Test and when you think you've finished Testing, Test again!

'VOIP VM not suitable for virtualisation.' - a sweeping statement or just in this scenario...

Well we've tried the Mitel and Cisco solutions.....both did not work in a virtual environment yet!

Hence, why we are giving you the heads-up of  Test, Test, Test and when you think you've finished Testing, Test again before you purchase, 5,000 headsets, 5,000 POE injectors, and complete all the CAT6 cabling!

we are a 50 user setup, slightly different, but can see what you mean about the host usage...
