IIS appcmd import xml file in order to create site
I desperately need to import my settings IIS 7 to another server IIS 7. I exported and tried to import using the appcmd but i receive this error
"ERROR ( message:Failed to add duplicate collection element "Default Web Site".
I was told to change the site ID to a different value and rename the site. But I need it to be under the actual site id 1 under "default web site"
Is there anyway to overwrite the default site?

Hello,
How you have taken backup from the source server? You should use copy switch since you are restoring it on the different server which will remove server specific properties.

I ended up modifying the xml file site id and it script executed with no errors. It seems as if i could not overwrite the current default website. I understand this is probably a safety net designed by Microsoft.
