How to get rid of V9 Portal Site and en.v9.com virus
(Dell Inspiron, 1501, OS Windows XP home ed).
My browser is Google Chrome
This virus has recently appeared on my laptop.
To remove it I tried 'System Restore', but my laptop refuses to restore to any of the dates available.
I tried running Malwarebytes AntiMalware (free edition) and AVG scan, but made no difference. All the sites I've located claiming to remove the virus turn out to be wanting money for downloading tools. Is there any straightforward way to get rid of this?

Just got it fixed now. It was embedded in the shortcut icon for Google Chrome. Thanks
I am glad it helped and you was able to catch what you missed in the documentation.
