"microsoft office excel has stopped working" when "get external data from access"
For some odd reason when I try to get external data from an access database I get message :"microsoft office excel has stopped working" and excel restarts
This only happens with a single access database and I am able to use the method of transfering data .... by clicking on the "From Access" button in ribbon for other access databases
I have trying compacting the database and also refreshing all links within the database itself
The access database itself has some links to tables stored on a sql server
Has anyone any ideas?

This was a bit cumbersome to fix but what I ended up doing was creating a new database and then importing the objects in .... a few at a time .... until I could isolate which object was causing the problem.
Problem was with two queries
The first would not even import and shutdown access and restarted
The second imported ok but when trying to use import into excel it shut down excel and restarted
Thanks for your suggestions ... they all helped

I have created a new database and copying and pasting the objects into it
Am 80% through now and the ugly error hasn't occurred yet
I'll post note when complete
Cheers
