Conflicting DNS diagnostics from dnsstuff.com & mxtoolbox.com
Hi!
We have a dedicated webserver leased from HG (Hostgator).
We use Smartermail Professional 7.6 with Microsoft DNS.
This weekend HG migrated us to a new server with a new IP address.
Once we were informed the migration was complete we updated the IP address's of the hostname for the primary domain (erraserver.com) to reflect these changes.
These have fully propagated.
The issue is dnsstuff.com and mxtoolbox show conflicting information with regards to the SMTP greeting.
If we 'correct' the issue in mxtoolbox.com then dnsstuff.com tells us the configuration is not RFC5321 compliant and visa versu.
We understand that this stems down to the fact that the reverse dns of the IP resolves to the ISP that HG use and that our mail servers hostname is different.
But why the conflicting results?
And what should we be doing so that the reverse dns of our IP is asscoiated with the hostname of our mail server.
Thanks

Thanks for your comments,
we suspected as much, just thought that our host would have taken care of this before hand.
As to contacting the websites in question it looks like we will have to do that.
Just waiting for HG to respond, then will close this question.
