DNS unable to resolve host from reverse lookup

We have our own Windows Server 2008 external DNS server. The forward lookup is working fine but from the internet we are unable to resolve the reverse lookup.
We have configured the PTR records on the external DNS server.

Is there anything else I'm missing? Should the ISP host the reverse lookup? Need help. Thanks.

The (external) DNS server that is authoritative for your zone should host the PTR, if that is your ISP then yes. Otherwise maybe just wait until the record propagates or nslookup directly at the external DNS server with the type as PTR.
