Windows Mail Live 2009 will not open any attachments
I am using Windows Mail Live 2009. About a week ago, it stopped allowing me to open attachments. This is all attachments, not just .exe and other unsafe attachments, but also .docx, .jpg, .pdf will not open. In addition, I can't even save them to my harddrive and open them from there. I had read somewhere that IE 9 can interfere with WML so I rolled by my IE 10 all the way to IE 8. Did not help. I am using Windows 7. I am hoping there is some setting that was somehow changed that I am missing.
Thanks,
Doug

Is there a reason you don't want to update? That is normally the first thing I do and it fixes problems about 50% of the time.

To joelsplace - Yes. Two reasons. First it is not my computer. The person who owns the computer is (was) happy with the current setup. Second, in my experience, unless the update involves a minor fix, often times I have to trade one problem for another. And since the update would require the installation of all the Windows Live products, I would prefer not to go there unless absolutely necessary. So at least for now I am looking for solutions that can correct the current problem rather than install a new product.
You do not have to install all the products. You can select just mail. Have you tried repairing the install. (not sure it's available)

" It was working just fine up to one week ago. "
Do a System Restore to a date before the problem started.
"And since the update would require the installation of all the Windows Live products, "
No, as I said you can choose only Windows Live Mail.
Forgive me for mentioning it, but if you were willing to update IE to IE 10, it is hard to understand why you do not want to install an update for WLM.

No one was able to solve the issue. They did really try hard. In all fairness a suggestion was made that may have corrected the issue that I was unwilling to do, so it is not the fault of the expert.

To jcimarron - If I have to do that I will, but I really do not want to update. It was working just fine up to one week ago. I am sure I probably changed some setting or did some other silly thing, but of course I don't recall doing anything. If you have any suggestions to correct this current problem without having to install an update I sure would be glad to hear.
