Seagate

Hi Experts,

I have Seagate 3TB Network Storage External Hard (GoFlex Home)Drive which is wifi one. I just need to know how do I convert that HDD Wifi To HDD wired one. As it is taking too much time to upload file to HDD. I go through Seagate website & I found accessories but I don't know it is compatible or not.

Any Suggestions.

Thanks

Actually from what I gather by visiting the seagate site and looking at the datasheet, the NAS doesn't actually include any wireless built-in wireless capabilities at all. You must rather connect it to a wireless router with it's network cable, and then the router takes care of the connection to the NAS, and not the NAS itself. So if you are connected to your LAN by wire and not via wireless, you'll also automatically be connected via wire to the NAS.

If you still have slow speeds, that may be because either the NAS itself is limited in the speed, or your LAN isn't at gigabit level. To get a gigabit connection you'd have to make sure your wireless Router also has gigabit LAN ports, as your PC's and any switches you may have. If you only have a 100mbit LAN then you will just get that speed, and that would give you a similar throughput as you have with a 125mbit wireless LAN.
Mr. rindi,

I have belkin 360 or 300 N router with 5 gigabyte speed. As I read your comment what should I buy ? Just one gigabyte wire?

Thqnks
Or one LAN wire which I have connect to PC to NAS?
I can't find a device called belkin 360. Do you have a partnumber? Also, if your PC doesn't have a gigabit NIC builtin having a router with gigabit ports won't help. All the parts of the LAN will need to support gigabit speeds, otherwise you'll just get the speed of the slowest part on your LAN.

Apart from that I own some NAS with gigabit ports, but their internal hardware is so slow that they run at approximately the same speed at which megabit ports run. They just have a slow processor. But they were cheap. Often to really get something with higher speeds you'll also have to pay more.
I have  750 DB belkin N+ Router
If it's this one, then it is a gigabit router:

http://www.belkin.com/us/p/P-F9K1103

If your PC is connected with an ethernet wire directly to that router, and your PC's NIC is capable of gigabit speeds, Then you are attached at that speed and should get gigabit speeds to the NAS too. If your PC's NIC on the other hand only is a 100megabit NIC, and the PC's wireless NIC is capable of running at 450megabit speeds as the router is, then your wireless throughput would even be higher than when wired, at least if you are sitting close to the router.
Thank you very much rindi your comments is helpful, you owe me 500 points :)
