ESXi 5.1 - APC Network Shutdown and vMotion
Hello,
Just wanted some basic feedback on using the APC Network Shutdown (PCNS) on an ESXi Host with vMotion. For simplicity sake let’s say that I have 2 ESXi Servers with vMotion. Both servers are connected to the same UPS which is managing the shutdown events. Because the vSphere Management Assistant (vMA) would be installed on the Local DataStore of each ESXi Host, is there anything I should be aware of in regards to vMotion if one of the ESXi Hosts were to become unavailable?
I have experience with setting up PCNS & ESXi on a standalone host, just not in regards to vMotion.
Hope that makes sense.
Thank you!

HA is enabled and so is vMotion so i guess im a little confused. Can you further clarify that installing the PCNS on each ESXi Host is the proper way to shutdown the ESXi Host Servers? Sorry im a little new to how this works.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Thank you again for your help!
no problems.
VMware HA restarts virtual machines on other available hosts, when a HOST HAS A FAILURE!
Controlled SHUTDOWN is not A FAILURE!
