vCenter Simple Install 5.1 continues to fail during Simple Install
vCenter Simple Install 5.1 continues to fail with error 29114. I choose the SQL 2008 Express installation, because it's already installed for another app.
Tried almost everything I find other people using to fix, but to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can someone tell me when entering the Host Name or IP address, during DB information installation, WHAT host name is it asking for? The machine name?
I don't want to use the IP. I've tried every name I know, but still can't connect. I have the DSN setup and connects.
Also get this when I try to expand the Database Diagrams under LGS_RSA
This database does not have one or more of the support objects required to use database diagramming. Do you wish to create them?
Been stuck on this for days.

Finally got it, it was a DNS problem or I should say spelling problem. Host name and DNS entries didn't match.

The responses basically led me in the direction of the fix, thanks.

Remove the SSO server from the domain and reboot.
Install SSO using the bundled SQL Express, and verify the vCenter Single Sign On service is running.
Connect to the database (.\VIM_SQLEXP) using SQL Management Studio Express and change the RSA_USER password to comply with the policies in the environment.
Update the SSO configuration:
Open a command prompt and navigate to C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructur
ssocli configure-riat -a configure-db --rsa-user-password -m
Update the C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructur
db.pass=new_password
Restart the SSO service to verify that it starts.
Join the SSO server back to the domain.
Verify the vCenter Single Sign On service is running.
