excel 2010 cannot connect to SQL 2012 SSAS

Hi Experts,

I have a test machine that runs sql 2012 SSAS and has excel 2013. On this machine i can use excel 2013 and access the OLAP cubes running on sql 2012.

When I try to connect to the sql 2012 server remotely using excel 2010 I get the following error:

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).] SQL Server does not exist or access is denied.

Now the server/instance name and access privledges are all correct. As I can use the same credentials on excel 2013 which setup locally on the sql server2012.

My gut feel is that this has to something with upgrading excel 2010 connection so it can then connect to sql 2012.

Next i tried to use ODBC Data Source Administrator (Admin tools) and i got the attached error. This lead to me think that excel doesnt have the right version for sql 2012 in order for the connection to work.

Please help!
