hp mini screen dims ALMOST blank when unplugged
Greetings all,
i changed the screen for my hp mini, and now it works fine, but when i unplug it from power it continues to run fine on battery but the screen is almost black (i can slightly see something).
and it is not a setting in windows, as the problem exist before windows starts (in bios and in post screen).
the power adapter feels like an electric switch (ON/OFF) cause nothing but the screen is light is affected when i unplug and plug the power adapter.
things i tried:
1- resetting the BIOS to default options.
2- unplugging the battery and the power, and holding the power button for 15 seconds.
3- unplugging the power adapter from the wall and leaving it in the laptop, to check if the metal piece of the power adapter was working as a connection for a lose wire mistakenly and that is the reason the lights on the screen are on by then.
thank you

They didn't work while on AC nor in battery.

Indeed, that is very strange... glad you were able to figure it out, though.
Just a note, defective screens are sactually quite common but more likely than not what happens in a situation like this is the screen is a generic model versus what was in it. I have seen where a screen that works just fine as a replacement will not from properly.

troubleshooted the problem myself with no help from EE
Test that the brightness controls work when connected via AC, then test if they work when you are on battery
