Scheduled Task Issue

I have to scheduled tasks that are not running.  They are timing out.  The time out is set at one hour.  The tasks should take less than 2 or 3 minutes to run.  I have a classic asp page for both that uses the same code but, of course, needs to be run by clicking a button.  Those both work.  Why would my scheduled task time out if the others don't?  Could it be that something else is running and causing that to not execute?  I would really like to get this resolved.

Thanks a ton!

It is running on the server after a manual start with no error generated but has taken far longer than it should have and does not seem to be generating the desired result.  Seems like it is just spinning its wheels.  The only other thing that is running is the MsCtfMonitor.

It is being run under the same account that it is run on when I execute it manually from its classic asp page.

No I have a classic asp page that serves the same purpose as the .vbs page that task scheduler is supposed to run.  The classic asp page I run by manually submitting a form via the web page.  The same code is set up in the vbs page and scheduled to run every night via the task scheduler.

As a side note, all of my other tasks run just fine except these two.  Interestingly, these are the only two that use smtp/cdo sys to send client emails and I have had difficulty with this portion of my hosting server off an on all spring...which is about the time these two tasks stopped running correctly in the task scheduler.

I am about ready to follow padas' advice and go to a third party for this but am trying to revisit every other option first.
