Windows 7 Home premium: Problem with Windows Update

Hi,

This is a Dell Desktop (Inspiron 620).
+1) The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit
+2) The Latest Windows Update was done around a year ago (March 2012)

I try to do the windows update to this machine but failed all the time

I am not sure what it the latest windows 7 home premium version right now (SP2?)

My question: Would somebody show me the link to download the updated file (windows update) so I can update this machine locally (If you have the link, I will download it with other computer, then I will update the above machine locally).

Thank you

tjie

It does not give me the error message --> just failed ...
Then, I also cannot select a part of the update (the only opton is " just click windows update" that is it; it does not appear "the files to be updated"; so i cannot select anything)
Windows update is an superb option to keep your files updated.

Apply updates by following the below process.
Login on your PC with Administrator account>> Click on RUN>> All Programs >>Windows Update.

Please let me know if you have any issues.

Hi TonyP,

I login as a local administrator (anyway, this machine is a stand alone one)
- Right-click "my computer" > select properties ...
- Then I saw the selection for Windows Update at the left bottom side of the screen ...
- i click it, then it tries to connect to the internet --> then failed (I do not believe it is a connection failed as I am using other computer to go and post the problem to EE now)
- After connection (few seconds), then failed
- last time, I experienced with windows XP; i tried to update windows XP to SP3 then failed; but when i updated locally (I got the file of SP3), then it is OK; then, I can update the rest

Hi all,

This is weird ...

1) When I connect to the internet going to EE (and post this problem) with my other  computer; i am succesfuly going to internet
- I am using the network cable
2) When I use the same network cable for the computer in question, I have a problem to do the windows update
3) Now, i use the wireless (for this computer in question) to do the windows update; i just follow this path: right-click "my computer"> select "properties">click "the window update and boom ...it can download all the windows update ...
4) So i am OK with windows update using the wireless (but i do not have any idea while it failed with the network cable?)

thanks,
tjie
