Unable to authenticate to Exchange 2010 server from Outlook 2007 on Windows XP
I have a client computer running Windows XP, with Outlook 2007 (Office Small Business 2007) which is unable to authenticate to an Exchange 2010 server. I can access OWA just fine from this computer and I have also verified that Autodiscover is working fine from other computers. After setting up the Outlook profile, I enter the password but the login dialog box just keeps coming back without ever finalizing the Outlook profile setup.
Here is what I have done:
1. Created new Outlook profile from scratch.
2. Ran detect and repair on Office.
3. Ran all available Windows Updates.
4. Tested the credentials on another computer and confirmed they worked fine.
5. Ran malware and virus scans.
6. Opened Outlook without a profile and ran rpcdiag and confirmed that it can connect to the autodiscover record.
I am accessing the computer from remote so I cannot rebuild the computer unless they ship it to me. Any other suggestions?

I forgot to mention this computer is not on the domain and is just using Outlook Anywhere. DNS is definitely working since I can get to OWA. I checked the password manager and there is nothing saved in there for his Outlook account (which are different credentials than the ones the user logs in with).
Did you tried to login to OWA using that user credentials?
If you try to setup Outlook profile on a different computer using that user credentials, what happen?

If the computer is not part of the domain then for login try:
username: domain\username
password: user password
username: domain\username
password: user password

I did try to use both domain\username and username@domain.com for the credentials and neither worked.
Verify the workstation's IP configuration. Is the DNS servers the internal DNS for the domain? If so, then rejoin the workstation to the domain and answer no when windows says it has found an account for the workstation.

There are no DNS issues. The computer is not on the domain and does not need to be on the domain.

Cert issue.
If that is not the case check the DNS settings and make sure they are pointed correctly, the system may have a static entry somewhere so flush out the DNS and verify.
