Problem Linking Excel Chart in Powerpoint Slide
Hi All,
I currently have a spreadsheet in Excel that has 6 unique charts on one worksheet. The charts are generated from data on that worksheet. I'm trying to link the charts from Excel to Powerpoint. I can copy and paste them into Powerpoint and I have the option to refresh the data in Powerpoint; however the data doesn't refresh based on the updated chart in Excel. Has anyone had this problem before?
I'm using Excel and Powerpoint 2010.

The above solution doesn't work. It still will not update the chart. It appears that I have to paste special and paste it as an object, which screws up the axis scale.
What happens when you update in File | Edit links?

Nothing happens. There is no error stating that the update didn't occur. Literally just nothing gets updated.
Hm. And when you pasted from Excel, you chose one of the "link data" options?
You might try re-pasting the charts onto the slide (one at a time), just to make sure. Then change the data in the worksheet and be sure to save the Excel file before trying the File | Edit Links option in PPT again.

I've literally tried everything you just said. I've tried pasting each one. Updating the excel spreadsheet, saving the sheet, closing it (or leaving it open) and then trying to update the data in the powerpoint slide... nothing.
Where is the spreadsheet in relation to the presentation? Does it behave better if it's in the same folder as the presentation?
ASKER
They are located in the same location, right now on the Desktop.
Wow. You shouldn't be having issues! This will sound weird, but have you rebooted lately? It's an easy thing to do, and sometimes it actually fixes these crazy things that *should* work but don't.

None of the solutions had worked, so I need to find another viable one.
