Problems with Mapped Drive's

So having a weird problem that I haven't come across.

While in the office this laptop has no problems

While out and signed in using our vpn I have this problem.

I can ping our servers fine by their IP addresses, but when I try to ping it by it's friendly name "SERVER" it doesn't work and all of the mapped drives do not work.

The plot thickens. The user says that he told me the issue wrong The problem is when he is our Oklahoma Office where other users are not having this problem. So when he is signed into the VPN he is fine. When he is in the home office he is fine. When he is at a remote office he has the problem. I did a log me in session with him and the TCP/IP is set to Obtain server address automatically

can other users in the remote office ping the same server, also try to the ping FQDN of the server from the remote office.
