I've been using ?q= in my URLs, but it turns out that it's not needed. Is this a fluke or to be expected?

Example:

http://www.mysitem.com/?q=site-page/aboutus

same as

http://www.mysite.com/site-page/aboutus

My regret is that I've already hard coded so many URls with the prefix.
