i can logon to my xp machine & folder redirection now successful
i can logon to my xp & type: \\fileserver\file\perterpa n - i can double click and view files saved on desktop successfully, if i delete a file and logoff xp and log back, the file just deleted returns - this is ok
note: i have added screeshots of file server permissions properties

all appears ok, so i presume the advice given and my response all is ok, although did not get a response about:
domain admin - that was not in list as in win 2003 it maybe now called:
administrators\fileserver - local user account
administrator\fileserver - for local group account
appreciated for advice
