HP Pavillion g6 gets error on start up "file signed incorrectly winload.efi

We have a brand new laptop and after doing a Windows update we get the error on start up that a recent change might have installed a file that is incorrectly signed or damaged.
I tried a system restore back to the farthest I could go and that didn't help.

I can't get it to boot in safe mode.  When I press the fn key and f8 it just goes to the menu to start in Windows setup or Windows 8.  If I chose setup it states I can chose F8 but it doesn't work.

HELP!

No idea.  I'd prefer to try to get Safe mode working before I go that route.
After three unsuccessful attempts to boot, the boot process itself will offer to enable safe mode - worked for me so far. By the way: is there anything already configured/installed that would mean a lot of work to recover/redo?
ok.  There is stuff, but not a lot.  Do you know how to do a Factory Restore?
No, but you should be able to find out either by Manual/Support/HP Forum.
OK.  I'm surprised no HP experts have posted?
Go into the bios and see if there is an option for legacy boot, or disable secure boot.
I took your advice and did the factory restore by doing F11 and choosing the option to restore it
