Twitter experts - is it appropriate to @ a company when you write an article about them?
I run a news site and we do a lot of stories about companies and/or their products. Some of the articles are flattering, some are not.
We generally post them to twitter, but I'm not much of a twitter user myself, so I'm not sure about how the culture works.
I currently allow my writers to add up to two hashtag keyphrases that are added to their twitter posts.
I'm thinking about allowing them one @ as well, as a way of notifying the company that we have done the story. That way they can respond/retweet/etc if they want.
If this an appropriate use of the @ tag?
Thanks,
Chris
