asked on

getting track information for songs in iTunes

Hi,

I would like to be able to download the audio from Youtube and store it in my iTunes library.

I use Frecorder to download the music.  Each song has the artist's name & album name followed by a number.  What I would prefer is the actual track name used in the album.

Do you have any ideas as to how I can get the track info automatically and for free?

Hi PL,

If Youtube does not offer you the option to download the audio from their site, then it is not available for free download, and you should refrain from doing so using other third party apps.

I actually had a friend come over and showed me how to get the song info.  Sometimes when I hit "Auto Tag", I get totally wrong information for a song.  However, it didn't happen too often.

Note: I decided to go to secondspin.com to buy the album ($10) that I downloaded.
I see it occasionally too, but you'll get that with all of them since they access Gracenotes CDDB,
CDDB, short for Compact Disc Database, and used to be only applicable to audio CD / CDA, but these days mp3 also works
winamp uses the same database  and even Grace Notes also gets it's data from the public user input so the name of the track and the singer maybe inaccurate. But when you consider we might be talking about accessing millions on millions of tracks.

thanks ..
PS I know, I see that buy on iTunes in youtube as well, most people don't mind paying 99 cents to support their fav artists.
Besides that one should never assume.  :)
