Creating new AD server in existing forest, but DC in forest can't be contacted!
hi guys,
I've had some problems where we're having authentication problems. We have a domain called FC.LOCAL and a child domain UK.FC.LOCAL. The server which held the FC.LOCAL server role is having major problems, so we're having to rebuild a new one.
I thought we had another server which actually had the role FC.LOCAL at least, but that's not so. Therefore, now that I am creating a new AD server in the FC.LOCAL domain, it says that an Active Directory controller in the FC.LOCAL domain could not be contacted.
Where to go from here?
Thank you
Yash

The server which held the FC.LOCAL server role is having major problems, so we're having to rebuild a new one.Just how major are these problems? Is that DC actually up and running? If important services aren't starting or if its offline entirely, then it's perfectly normal for the other server to be unable to find it.

It ended up that another one of the servers which held the FC.LOCAL role, was actually in need of a reboot. The moment we did that, it could get in touch with our other FC.LOCAL server and all was fine.
I honestly can't believe a reboot has resolved an issue...!
thanks for all your input/help.

Have u successfully joined the second DC to the domain . And if your getting this error during DC Promo ?
Make sure that your new server is pointing to your first DC as primary DNS server. Use nslookup to make sure that you are able to solve DNS names in your domain. OFF windows firewall on the OLD DC
