How to migrate from 2010 to 2013 SharePoint
Hello,
I have some SharePoint 2010 servers and I am interested in upgrading to SharePoint 2013. I have read about the database attach method for 2013, the same method I did for going to WSS 3.0 to 2010, but I had new servers prepared with SharePoint 2010 already installed. I don't have new servers for SharePoint 2013, but want to use the same servers that are being used for 2010. If on the SharePoint 2010 server, I make backups or detach the databasaes. and then proceed with the upgrade and then attach databases, would this work?
Thanks,
Paul

So, I can't do upgrades on a server even though I detach the databases?

Can you just run the 2013 upgrade install program on the same server that already has SharePoint 2010 on? You would then to detach the content database, first before you do this. Would this work.
These articles seem to suggest a new seperate server, which I don't have for 2013.
