When you work with this every day, and study your stats, that is about the best credible resource.   Anything you read will be for "most" situations.

For the last few years, each update has been going towards great, unique, compelling content and away from small little tips and tricks you may have read about.

Don't think about your url structure in terms of seo because my it will have less and less impact.  There is certainly a better url structure you can be using and no wordpress plug ins needed other then the main set up.

This probably is not worth changing .

This should be changed for user readability.  mysite.com/blog/apple_pie

Not sure what to say on these

Make it easy for your users to cite or remember where necessary.

Chase your viewers, not seo and your search results will follow.

The better SEO plugins can help by allowing more and different template tags to help generate unique titles and descriptions even if the slugs are broadly similar.  Yoast and All-In-One SEO are the two major choices in this space.  Even minor variance in the title of the page will be enough for Google so long as the content on the page is different too.

The slugs themselves are not really a problem.  The structures you have above are probably okay but if you can get rid of the query strings and numbers and get title text in that location instead, you will do better.  Not massively better, but better.

Guys, thank you both but unfortunately in the situation I am in, I have no control over the folks who write the URLs. I agree with you both on that.

I included those to let you know that these are the type of repeating or dynamic URLS that I may or may not need to write different Titles for.. My question was not about how the URLs were written since I can not control that part of it, but for  repeating calendar pages, etc..Does a different title tag and/or meta description need to be unique for each of these repetitive dynamic things like blog 123, calendar 123, etc.?? In other words, do the search engines penalize you for this? If so, is there some dynamic way to do this?

Great answer! I am dealing with folks that are not that savy with SEO. Do you happen to have a resource, some online link or something I can give them to make them understand this is the way to go?

TIA
