BI Certifications
I'm considering to go into BI analytics - also looking at Microsoft BI certification - is this recommended? http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/mcse-sql-business-intelligence.aspx
Will MS SQL 2012 be around for sometime - do I need to upgrade myself again taking 5 exams when the next SQL comes out?
How about CBIP? http://tdwi.org/cbip

Next release is SQL 2014. But I don't think the exams are really tied to releases anymore - the requirement is to recertify every three years to stay current.
I'm studying for 70-463 now. More than half of it is SSIS.
Generally consulting companies will greatly care about certifications, either that you have them or that you'll have them soon. Other companies don't care as much, but having a certification definately separates you from the mass of rookies out there.
The market for SSIS/SSRS/SSAS has been pretty good the last year.

btw PASS is throwing a Business Analytics Conference May 2014 in San Jose, CA

The first one was in Chicago in May. I didn't go, but it was hyped up real well at the PASS Summit, and I heard good things about it.

Hi,
I did a lot of certifications and therefore updates to newer versions. Normally when the new certification requires 5 exams, the upgrade is just 3 exams. But thats only the number - the content/questions will be nearly exactly the same :-)
So you have to know the same but taking just less exams.
The next version will be SQL 2014 where the first CTP is already available for download:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/sqlserver/sql-server-2014.aspx
CBIP is more general (How do you build up the data warehouse) and therefore technology independent, whereas MS certifications show the technical expertise.
And I think both are valid and the bigger the customer the more important the certificates get (besides experience and hourly rates :-)
Just my 2ct
