unless the person that deleted the folder was working on the server where the share resides then there is no way to recover this that i know of.  if it was on the server where the share is then it'll be in the recycle bin.

what environment are you in?  is the share on direct attached storage or NAS / SAN.

do you have shadow copies enabled?

do you have a backup scheme?

Hopefully shadow copies are enabled on that drive.

Try right clicking the drive and see if you can open Previous Versions.

this is windows 2003 so does not shadow copies enabled...its windows 2003 domain environment.but computers somehow are not part of domain, they connect to server through remote desktop, they access shared folders as mapped to their computer
its not on nas/san....its on server hard drive
I'd give Recuva a try:

if they are logging on the server with remote desktop then each user has their own recycle bin and unless they used shift-delete then the deleted folder will be in their recycle bin (unless the contents where too large for the recycle bin)

i don't know of a way to look in each users recycle bin under one login but you can do the following

get on the rdp server as and admin, start task manager, go to the users tab, right click on each user, select remote control and you will shadow their session with keyboard and mouse control, open their recycle bin and see if you see the folder in there, then you can close the session by using the key combination that you specified when you took over (i think the default is ctrl-*)

you might have gotten lucky if this is the case
by the way server 2003 does support shadow copies, just right click on and drive in explored and select properties and go to the shadow copy tab

it's not a good idea to store shadow copies on the same drive that you are enabling shadow copies for...it must be a local drive so if you don't have any available then you might want to install one
tried
i hope they helped
but it would be nice to know WHICH one helped
