I have an SBS 2010 box inherited from other techs. OWA is working, but not outlook anywhere. I (think I) want to run the setup your internet address wizard.
They already have the domain, the website and outside DNS is hosted outside.
So how do you answer questions for this wizard?
I already have a domain name that I want to use.... (that's easy, even for me)
but then:
A) 'I want the server to manage the domain name for me' or
B) 'I want to manage the domain name myself' . This SBS box won't handle the outside DNS for people to get the MX, web etc., but if someone from the LAN types in the website, I want them to get to it. So I guess B?
Store your domain name info
it's asking for the domain name and extension...
is this going to be domain.local or domain.com? I guess .com 'cause it uses contoso.com as an example.
Should the domain already be in there from when the other techs ran the wizard (or maybe they didn't?)
For advanced settings, the domain prefix defaults to 'remote'. This would be the url for people to get to the server from outside? I heard IIS defaults internally to 'remote' as the host name, so using that makes sense for the outside too for consistency?
THen there's the configure button... I'll wait to hear back from you experts!
