I have a user that accesses a secured web page. he showed me that several of the links work, however, just a few links gives him this error

"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

I went on this quest to figure out what is wrong, and got into DNS, dig, nslookup, ect, but just realized that maybe I'm over-thinking this. Maybe this is simply some bad links on a webpage. So my question is, is there a good way to tell if there are bad links on a website?
for instance in this case were just a few of the links have the error message, is it pretty safe to assume that the problem is the link, and messing with DNS is probably overkill?
