Windows 8 Pro won't join SBS2011 domain
On attempt to join a Windows 8 Pro pc to a SBS2011 domain, it fails with "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted". Have added server's DNS to the pc to no avail. I can get to \\servername no problem and see all its shared folders but can't join the domain.

Is the clock correct with your DC? Clock differences on the PC can cause weird errors.
Also, try adding '.local' after your domain name (IE/ 'domain.local') when specifying your Domain Name to join.
**ADD:**Someone already stated this (hate the delays with posting sometimes!) but I cannot delete.

First of all
Do you have UR3 for SBS 2011 installed to support Windows 8 being able to join the domain using http://connect ?
Are you starting IE by right clicking and choosing "Run as administrator"
Is Network Discovery on for the Win8 machine???

If the PC has a static address change it to a DHCP address (presuming the SBS is doing DHCP..). I've had problems in the past with Static IP addresses when using the connect wizard.
After your connected to the domain, change back to the static address if needed.

your client pc has to have the servers IP as dns. than, as Machienet said, use the.local as domain name

Are you able to add any other machines to the domain? i.e - wind7. I got the issue very long before and the solution was sysvol folder wasn't shared on the server.
Have a look at this article http://blog.korteksolutions.com/cannot-connect-this-computer-to-the-network-windows-sbs-2011-essentials/ and see it helps.
