BGP next-hop
Experts,
I have a question regarding BGP next-hop that I am not very clear. The “next-hop” means route’s next-hop or data flow’s next-hop? The route and the data flow are opposite direction. I think the “next-hop” means data flow direction. For example, here is topology here: A—B—loopback(1.1.1.1/32). Router A and B are EBGP. In the Router A, when show ip bgp, I can see *> 1.1.1.1. Its next-hop is router B, it means if I send a ping to 1.1.1.1 from Router A, its next-hop is router B. Apparently the next-hop is data flow. Anyone can confirm it ? thank you.
