Why I get 0.0.0.0 default gateway

Dear Expert,

After PPPoE connection to my ISP on window 7 with auto configuartion setting, I get internet connectivity that is
okay and I can go to yahoo.com.
And I tried know my IP address and default gateway by ipconfig/all command.

I found the default gateway that is 0.0.0.0 Why ?

I would like to go default gateway 's login page or my ADSL(Model: NEC NTA 3110)
router login page on broswer to try setting those IP by manually

Anyone who have NTA 3110 manual, please send one copy for me.
COuld I have normal default gateway setting instead of 0.0.0.0 ?
Why now I still connect to internet(yahoo.com) with 0.0.0.0 default gateway ?

Please advise
Duncan

Since my window is chinese, so translate the ipconfig output as follows for your review

PPP adaptor pccw:
===================
DNS Prefix:
DHCP Enable: No
AUto configuration: Yes
IPv4 : 218.101.120.240
Subnet mask:255.255.255.255
Default gateway:0.0.0.0
DNS server: 205.252.144.126
                    205.252.144.123
NetBIOS over TCPIP: Stop

Ethernet LAN:
=================
DNS Prefix:
Desciption:Realtek RTL8139/810 Faimily Fst Ethernet NIC
LOcation: 00-13-77-69-82-00
DHCP Enabled: Yes
AUto configuration: Yes
IPv4 : 169.254.109.44
subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
default gateway:
DNS server: fec0:0:0:ffff::1%1
                    fec0:0:0:ffff::2%1
                    fec0:0:0:ffff::3%1
NetBIOS over TCPIP: Enable

So the LAN setup is also in auto mode, do I need to set it manually for IP and
its gateway to 192.168.1.X and 192.168.1.1.1 respectively ?

Please advise

Duncan
After talking to ISP adminstrator, they reply me the device of NEC NTA 3110 which

is ADSL modem and that is not modem so that we could not login 192.168.1.1 on browser
since it is not router, just ADSLmodem plus 4 ports as switch

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Adsl_connections.jpg

so the default gate is no use for my case

Assisted answer: 250 points for craigbeck's comment #a39324351
Assisted answer: 250 points for Qlemo's comment #a39324463

for the following reason:

it will continue in new thread
A grade of "C" is totally inappropriate. It tells "the Experts did provide very little help, and did not improve their answers after requested for" - or, in short, an answer, but very poor. A "C" grade is given only very rarely.

The answers given are correct and on the point - why do you think they earn a "C"? As I've mentioned, we do not have any information for NTA, and I told you you might not have a router (though not in the plain).
thanks for all of your reply, please reply the new thread if possible
I could NOT understand fully to your answer
If you do not understand, ask. And allow for the Experts to reply - two or three hours are not sufficient to grant a "C".
In fact, your answer to the question is not quite clear enough to let me grade it to A
Sorry about that. And the grading is not depend on how many hours you took to answer it
and it is depended on the whether the answer is 100% correct to the question for the A  grade or accuracy of the answer to the question
Be reminded question and answer model  is mutual and interactive activity
So Close thread
Thanks all of your reply

Have a nice day ,

See you later Bye Bye
Thanks for clarifying the difference between an ADSL router and an ADSL modem.

Both answers were 100% correct, clear and concise.  The fact that you do not understand the difference between a router and a modem does not help.  Both Qlemo and I referred to the device as a router as YOU called the device a router in your opening post.

In terms of 100% answer - you asked why you got 0.0.0.0 - I told you why, clearly and correctly.  Your modem/router/gateway doesn't assign one via the LAN ports as the PPPoE connection between the ISP and your PC is bridged via the modem/router/gateway.

I will follow the new thread.
Dear craigbeck,

if you are busy, please don't reply  my next new threads , thanks for your cooperation
 I might be not good enough to digest your answer completely.
Duncanb7,

People here are not obliged to help - they do voluntarily.

I notice that in the follow-up question to this one you accepted and graded an answer which was incorrect and not in context with the original question.

All this will do is discourage knowledgeable experts from helping in the future.
Anyway thanks for all of your reply
