Electrical problem with brake light, turn signal, standard 4 wire plug to 6 wire cable.

The brake light does not come on, on the left side.
The brake light / turn signal bulb is a 3057.

The right turn signal works fine.
The nightime lights work fine left and right.
It's the left turn signal which blinks fast as seen on the instrument panel.
The parts guy told me that is an "indicator" that one element in the bulb is bad.
Not true. I bought new bulbs and the new bulb does not solve the problem.

I think someone may have mis-wired the utility trailer lights.
If the same wire that was supposed to go to the left rurn signal, was also hooked to the right side lights, would this cause the left truck brake / turn signal light to not work?

When the truck right turn signal is on, both sides of the trailer lights blink. It should only be the right side.

The truck has the standard 4 wires, brown, yellow, white, green.
The brown appears to feed the nightime lights.
The green feeds the right brake light.
What should the yellow and white be for?

The trailer has a 6 wire cable. this feeds a small 12 volt battery
Only 5 wires leave this cable to the underside of the trailer and they are red, blue, white, brown, green. Should the green, white and brown wires from the truck lights match the green, white, brown wires in the trailer cable?
If so, what is the red and blue for, as well as the yellow from the 4 wire connector under the truck.

When the left blinker is on, there is no power to the end of the yellow wire at the back of the truck.
When the right blinker is on, both the left and right side lights on the trailer blink.
Thus why I think someone wired the two together.
No brake light or left turn signal on the truck. New bulb not the solution.

I have no time to figure it out before a trip tonight. We'll have to keep all lights on, and have only right side brake light a right turn signal.

Truck broke down and in the shop. Why or whether power is getting to the truck's rear left light is still not known.
"I think someone may have mis-wired the utility trailer lights"

Very unlikely.

You have short circuit(s), broken wire(s) or bad earth(s).

You need to test all wires from the plug back to the bulb sockets with a ohm meter, (or a test light along with a 12V +/- supply)

The plug may have had water enter it and it may need replacing.

The right turn signal and the right brake light are the only lights that work.
------------------
Based on the wiring I can see in the trailer, the left and right turn signals are hooked up together on the same wire.

Darr put names with the colored wires.

Links will be scoured.

It will be some weeks before the trailer wiring can be checked for issues.
-----------------------------
The lack of left brake light and left turn signal on the truck will be dealt with this week.
It could have been that way for 3+ years since I was never stopped and did not know the left was not working.
