TSM File Compares between NDMP and NFS, Isilon IQ
Hi,
I have a question regarding data type compares between NDMP and NFS.
We are running TSM 5.5 and backing up an EMC Isilon IQ, using a Backup Accelerator.
Originally this was configured to perform backups over NDMP, however only "full" backups are performed, and never a differential.
I thought it may be worthwhile to mount the NFS shares and perform incremental backups on these mounts. This was to be tested on a share by share basis.
After many hours the backup completed over NFS. There were over 15 million objects inspected, but only 1 million backed up. This was the "first" backup over NFS of these shares so it should of backed up 15 million objects.
Is TSM perhaps seeing our existing NDMP backups and comparing objects against them?
Any suggestions as to an optimal way of backing up an Isilon using TSM?
Thanks

Self resolution.
How long is the NFS mount path? if over 255 characters that could cause issues with 5.5. what does the dsmsched.log file show?
