SBS 2003 Best practice analyser reports missing OU's
Hi,
Been having some issues with an SBS 2003 server so decided to do a HealthCheck on AD just to make sure it was clean:
DCdiag - no Errors
Netdiag - No Errors
Best practice analysers gave the following errors:
MyBusiness organizational unit does not exist on this server.
MyBusiness\Distribution Groups OU does not exist
MyBusiness\Security Groups organizational unit does not exist on this server.
MyBusiness\Computers organizational unit does not exist on this server.
MyBusiness\Computers\SBSCo mputers organizational unit does not exist on this server.
MyBusiness\Computers\SBSSe rvers organizational unit does not exist on this server.
MyBusiness\Users organizational unit does not exist on this server.
MyBusiness\Users\SBSUsers organizational unit does not exist on this server.
All these OU's exist in active ADUC and are in the default location.
Could you please help as to why they are not found.
thanks
ali

Hi,
unfortunately we never set the server up, it was inherited from a previous support company. Is there a way i can tell if this was setup correctly. The errors i am actually trying to fix are
DNS Event ID 4000 & 9999 saying it can't talk to active directory, they have only been appearing in the last month, but it causes the server to eventually hang and need a reboot. After the reboot it has lost all it licenses so i then have to restore them.
any help would be appreciated

As this is mainly a source for people to get help with IT type problems, maybe you could elaborate a little more on what you did to solve the problem, so others could beniefit from how you did it when they find themselves in the same situation

because i managed to resolve the errors a different way
SBS runs as an add-on to the 2003 Server basic software.
It's been a while since I configured an SBS 2003 server but I'm thinking that you haven't installed the SBS portion.
There are steps that you have to do during the initial setup of SBS that are important to ensuring the proper configuration
