asked on

load drivers to esxi 5 via usb

Hi

the fibre card on my new host is not beaing recognised by ESXi 5.1 so I have no datastores as such.

I have downloaded the HP offline bundle hp-esxi5.0uX-bundle-1.4-16.zip and put this on a USB stick and even found the command, I think, to load the drivers.

# esxcli software vib install -d "/vmfs/volumes/Datastore/DirectoryName/PatchName.zip"

however I don't know the path to the usb stick or how to discover it

Any ideas
TIA
Jo

HP DL380 G8
HP 81B PCIe 8Gb FC Single Port HBA

and aS THIS IS THE fc CARD I HAVE NO DATASTORES (oops) so I can't load the drivers.

looks like I will reinstall esxi using the HP-preloaded-driver version
unless of course there is a smart way that I don't know?

just a 4gb SD card
you could present a NFS datastore to the ESXi server.

check if there is a datastore //vmfs/volumes on your SD card.

I did the re-install thing using the HP version of ESXi. FC card popped up smiling.

Thanks
