FRS removal of sysvol sync
I have restored a DC and done a metadata cleanup. When I run dcdiag I receive an error. How can I remove the old server from replication attempts. event id 13508 for 2008R2 not 2003.
The File Replication Service is having trouble enabling replication from oldserver to currentserver for c:\windows\sysvol\domain using the DNS name oldserver.mydomain.local. FRS will keep retrying.
Following are some of the reasons you would see this warning.
[1] FRS can not correctly resolve the DNS name oldserver.mydomain.local from this computer.
[2] FRS is not running on server.mydomain.local
[3] The topology information in the Active Directory Domain Services for this replica has not yet replicated to all the Domain Controllers.

There are no other DC's in the environment. Both are dead, one has been restored but I need to remove the references to the old one. FRS is the last issue to overcome
Make sure you removed references to the other DC server
_ldap._tcp.dc._msdtc.yourd omain.com
make sure within domain controllers OU in the AD users and computers you do not have the old DCs referenced.

The standard process when a master/primary DC is lost Is to sieze the roles by a remaining DC. Rebuild the failed DC. And then rejoin as another DC.
