bluetooth for vehicle

I just purchased a 2002 Lexus ES300 and I wanted to know a couple of things:

1.  I need to get sometype of bluetooth so I talk and drive at the same time, but I would prefer if I could also get something like a GPS system that may be able to do this as well.  Is there such a product that will work both like a GPS and I can connect my phone to when driving?

2.  Since vehicle has the "old" version of a radio/CD player and most of my music is on MP3 format, how can I get my music going on this old system?  I'd rather not record music on CD to play the old format unless I absolutely have to...and if so, how do I go about recording this old format from a Windows 8 laptop?  Can I do this with Windows Media?

Your phone should have navigation built into it. Using a bluetooth headset or visor clip on speaker would give the ability for hands free driving.

If there is an auxillary input port on your car stereo and your music is on your phone you can get a cable to connect your phone headphone jack to your car input port to play your music. If your music is not on your phone, you will have to get it to converted.
For question 2, you can get an adapter where one end will plug into the standard headphone jack on your mp3 player or phone and the other end will plug into the cassette tape deck in your car. They're something around $10 USD around here. I got mine at Walmart; it works great.

I'm a bit unclear.  Can I purchase a GPS and sync it to my cell phone so I can hear the radio through my phone as well as use it as a phone as well?
Bluetooth? Automobiles? Interesting topics.

For fun, see Sensing-Enabled Channels for Hard-to-Detect Command and Control of Mobile Devices. And for potentially related fun, see Experimental Security Analysis of a Modern Automobile. The world gets more interesting all the time. Makes me wonder how 'fun' driving a Bluetooth-enabled car could become.

I don't know what you mean by "hear the radio through my phone." The ideas discussed here were ways for you to play things on your phone and have the sound come through the car stereo system.

For the GPS, we are recommending you just use the navigation system already in your phone (what kind of phone is it?) and just get a bluetooth headset or something. The added bonus would be that it would not be tied to the car and you could use it other places. There are systems you can get for your car that have GPS and will allow you to attach your phone and make calls through it, but they are very expensive considering your phone already has all those capabilities and you can get a hands-free headset for under 30 USD.
