GAL/OAB does not work properly
Hello all,
Our Outlook is 2010 version. Our GAL/OAB is not updating properly. I created one new user. I can see this user contact in the GAL but not some helpdesks. I did manually update from Outlook Send/Receive folder and renamed Outlook Offline address folder in C drive. The helpdesks did not see that contact either. I asked them to delete their outlook profile and recreated the new profile. They could see that new user contact in the GAL in Outlook. However, more than one hour later, they checked and they did not see that contact again in the GAL.
Could you please some hint how to fix this issue?
Thanks,

That is an Exchange Management Shell command.
If the user appeared then was gone it sounds like the OAB isn't updating correctly.
Delete all OAB files on the workstation with Outlook shutdown then start Outlook. That forces a complete download of the OAB rather than incremental updates.
Simon.

I remembered that I did it already. I renamed the Offline Address Book folder to .old. Then, I downloaded Offline Address Book in the outlook. However, that person could not see the new user in the GAL
You need to set the preference for contacts list to GAL and not Outlook contacts.
http://msmvps.com/blogs/jeffloucks/archive/2009/12/21/outlook-2010-how-to-change-your-default-contacts-address-book.aspx
if this doesnt resolve the issue then we need to perform some quick steps at OAB in exchange.

In this case, you need to run below command , as "Sembee2" told, it s more than enough to fix the issue.
get-offlineaddressbook | update-offlineaddressbook
you need to do the exchange server side. so it will replicate all.. try and confirm in this forum, Thanks

Please try to download Offline Address Book in the outlook and use outlook online mode.

I found out that our default OAB is managed by Exchange 2013. Our current Exchange environment is Ex2010. We installed the Exchange 2013 two months ago for Exchange Hybrid in Office 365. I also cannot update the default OAB because of this error.
Action "Update" could not be performed on object 'Default Offline Address List (Ex2012)":
Error: Exchange server "\" was not found. Please make sure you typed the name correctly.
