asked on
Impact of ESXi evaluation licence expiring
Refer to attached
Q1:
is this expiry referring to ESXi licence or the vCenter licence?
Q2:
What's the impact if we did not register/activate the product key
/licence in time? I heard that VMs that are shut down won't be
able to boot up, is this true?

Referring to deviprasad's reply, you mean, it's necessary to
reinstall the ESXi ?
Can I not just activate the licence/product key & everything
will be back to normal? Btw, after expiry, how do I activate
the licence/product key?

Thanks chaps.
use the vSphere Client to directly login to the affected ESXi host
Click the Configuration tab.
Click Licensed Features under Software.
Click Edit under Licensed Features <== can't locate Edit; only the
Edit in the top menu bar is there.
So I've done it another way, ie:
a) select Home ==> Administration ==> Licensing &
b) click on the blue link "Manage vSphere Licenses"
c) enter the licence key in the box & click
d) "Add license keys" button, Next, select the
e) ESX button on top & highlight both ESXi hosts
f) & click Next & the licence expiry message is gone.
Noted at step e above, it indicated 4 CPUs only per ESXi
host but the licence is for 10 CPUs, so I still have 2 more
left? I have 2 licences, one is for 10 CPUs & one for 34 CPUs,
so I use the one for 10 CPUs, is this right?
