Updating a mail enabled public calendar

Running Exchange 2010 SP1. Using Outlook 2007.
I have a mail-enabled public calendar.
If I create and appointment from my Outlook calendar and invite this public calendar as a resource, it shows up in the public calendar so all is good.
If I edit the appointment from my Outlook calendar it sends a second appointment to the public calendar. So the public calendar now has the original appointment and the modified appointment.
Is there a way to have the original appointment on the public calendar updated without creating a second copy?

Thanks,
mokn

If you are using the public calendar as a placeholder to book resources, then Exchange 2010 Resource Mailboxes would be a better alternative. They also don't use up an exchange CAL.
